In Wikinerds jargon, a hack is a quick customisation which has hack value, but sometimes also utilitarian value, and it may be done for fun, for educational purposes, or for protecting your rights as a consumer. Projects are recipes for endeavours with lots of hack value that take some time to complete, and they may also be useful in some cases. An example of a project would be to build a robot from scratch, while customising an existing robot to run instead of walk would be considered a hack.

Note that in our jargon, hacking does not imply illegality and is not the same as cracking.
